Coming soon to The City Talking, our new documentary on the comics scene in Leeds - The City Talking: Comics.
With Thought Bubble Festival and its founder Tula Lotay as its starting point, the documentary explores the sources of the passion for comic book art that has set Thought Bubble apart on the comic convention circuit, and traces the more subtle influences of comics on the lives and works of creative people in Leeds and beyond.
As crucial to the festival as the convention weekend is the way Thought Bubble uses love of comics to promote literacy through immersion in the world of fantasy, superheroes, and some not-so-superheroes. But what are the special skills that make Peter Parker Spiderman, or Diana Prince Wonder Woman?
Using information from two databases of comic book superhumanity, our visualisation links the skills to the hero so you can see which powers are whose, which superheroes have unique talents that put them ahead of the rest, and which have, well, a magic ring and a poem (cough, Green Lantern).
Look out for the documentary The City Talking: Comics when it's released this week.
